This one of the last points of real civilization along the island chain of the Exumas. The people here are friendly and the marina and restaurant are pretty good considering what we have seen. Not much else on the island to do but diving which is excellent and of course some of the best fishing in the world. A lot of people come by plane to get off the beaten track and of course there are the “cruisers” who are passing through on their way to somewhere/nowhere. We keep meeting the people we met at other locations. We will leave for George Town Monday. It is the cruisers’ capital of Bahamas. A lot of people spend the whole winter there – pictures at 11.
- enjoying the calm trip – the water is amazingly clear (you can see down 30ft)
- Clouds form over the islands.
- this is the long/lat and the chart
- Cleaning fish at the dock – and feeding the sharks
- Nurse sharks – not dangerous- waiting for the left over fish
- Red Snapper – caught in 800 ft of water
- Even the Rays come at “feeding time”.
- Airplanes bringing tourists in and out of the island
- Special swimming area away from the sharks
- Some of the cottages – Look at the tide – 6-7 ft.
- Restaurant store and media (TV) facility – this is football season (the place was packed)
