The last time I remember that it rained was back in November. So that would make it 4 months without rain and everything is very dry. The Ticos tend to like to burn fields as a way of clearing up the brush on the property as well as improving the growing conditions by adding carbon to the soil. Last year we had a few fields of sugar cane that were burned but all of them were far off. This fire was directly in front of our balcony so we were close enough really see just how much fire there is…….
