The waterway in this area is like a labyrinth of low lying islands and reed bushes with a maze of rivers and channels. There are some shallow spots where we had to be very careful even with a 4 ft draft or we would have run aground. Other places the channel opens up to stately homes and small communities. The shrimp boats, porpoises, egrets, and brown, yellow, and green reed grass and a clear blue sky &#8211; a great way to spend a day. We spent the night in a small creek. I got up to check the anchor and the tide and saw an alligator making dinner out of something.
